UEFI, Secure Boot, TPM 2.0
Secure Boot checks the system at start, and the security chip opens the encrypted data disk. A machine with an older BIOS only can still run Ghalixy Server on its own Linux.
Hardware Coming
Ghalixy OS is not available yet, and no machine is certified yet. These are the requirements it is being built for. They may change as it is tried on real hardware.
The machine
Secure Boot checks the system at start, and the security chip opens the encrypted data disk. A machine with an older BIOS only can still run Ghalixy Server on its own Linux.
An ARM edition, for a small low-power box with mail, calendar, files and a small model, is a later idea, with no date.
How much depends on the people and the model. The setup's hardware check tells you what a machine can run before anything is erased.
AMD, or NVIDIA from the RTX 20 series on (older NVIDIA cards have no open kernel driver). Without a card the assistant runs on the processor, with a smaller model and slower replies.
Planned boxes
The plan is to offer two boxes and one list of machines that are known to work. None is on sale, and there are no prices here.
A quiet small PC with a security chip, a mid-size graphics card and a fast disk, for a family of about six, with voice and a mid-size model.
More memory and a larger card, two mirrored disks and a small battery backup, for an office of up to about thirty, answering several people at once.
A published list of machines known to work, and a checker you run first. Until then, ask us.
Sizes are the aim, not a promise: they will be set from timings on real machines.
Check first
Green: go. Amber: it works, slowly, and why. Red: why not, and what to change. The same check is planned for an existing Linux server and for Windows.
The check runs on your machine. Its answer stays there unless you copy it to us yourself.
